5 places to visit in New York to feel like in a movie

Posted on January 18, 2021January 26, 2023 by Simon Bro

Who has never dreamed of feeling like the main character in their favorite movie? New York is full of film references, and we’re not unhappy about that. You can read above the top 5 places to visit in New York to feel like in a movie.

1. Ghostbusters

In the south of Manhattan you can find the famous Barracks Hook & Ladder Company 8. Does the name mean anything to you? This is a New York fire station but also the famous headquarters of our favorite ghost hunters in Ghostbusters. Built in the early 20th century, it made its first appearance in the 80s for the Ghostbusters franchise and then in its reboot in 2016. Today, the barracks is still in operation and you can certainly see a red fire truck in front of the main door but especially a tribute to the movies with a panel with the film logo hanging on the main door.

2. The Wolf of Wall Street

The artery of Wall Street is very famous and represented in many films, among them The Big Short: The Break of the Century (2015) which showed us the bustle of Wall Street and its nervousness, and the striking and famous The Wolf of Wall Street (2013). From 11 Wall Street in Lower Manhattan, you will find many references such as the NYSE building that Leonardo di Caprio runs along, the Trinity Church, the Federal Hall or the famous Wall Street bull.
In addition to the stock exchange building, you can also visit the Federal Hall, Trinity Church and the Wall Street Bull Sculpture. This statue has been a real symbol since the 1987 Stock Market Crash and has become one of Manhattan’s most popular works.

Adress: Wall Street, Lower Manhattan, New York, NY 10013, États-Unis

3. Times Square

Today, Times Square is the intersection to visit. It is one of the most popular and impressive places in New York City. This neighborhood is overlooked by huge LED panels or lights that highlight numerous advertising. It is an emblematic place to itself, but we can also find many references that we all know. Among the most memorable we have a scene of Spider-man versus Electro in The Amazing Spader-Man, a scene of car chase in the movie Fast & Furious 8, a scene with Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake in Sex with friends and a scene with Michael Keaton in Birdman.

Adress: Manhattan, NY 10036, United States

4. Breakfast at Tiffany’s

Breakfast at tiffany’s, this great classic of the American cinema of 1961 featuring Audrey Hepburn shows us another memorable address. Indeed during the film, the actress is window-shopping at the intersection of 5th Avenue and East 57th Street in front of the luxury jewelry shop Tiffany&Co. This film greatly helped the store that really exists by creating a certain notoriety.

Adress : Tiffany & Co. 725 5th Ave, New York, NY 10022, États-Unis

5. Rosemary’s Baby

Finally, you are advised to go to the Dakota Building, it is a sumptuous residential building that hosts many celebrities (including John Lennon, who was murdered at the foot of it). This prestigious address appears in a Polanski film, Rosemary’s Baby under the name of Bramford. It is even shown in the opening scene of the film on a shot from above.
